Aftercare and Consent

Aftercare is a series of care practices sexual partners engage in right after having sex. Could range from things such as compliments to having baths together to eating or feeding one another. It’s just genuine care to show that you care for the person or had a good time.

For the sake of coherence, consent is the express statement that a person gives to their sexual partner that they want to partake in 4nicashun. Consent has to be willing, deliberate & conscious . You cannot force or influence it. Can also be withdrawn if one is uncomfortable.

Now, in a lot of “casual” relationships aftercare is a myth. People do not take care of their sexual partners because they believe they do not deserve since it is casual. I’m sorry love but that is wickedness. You should care for people regardless of romance. In cases like this, it can leave one party feeling used, dejected and a whole web of regretful emotions which defeats the whole point of consent. If someone agreed to do something and you don’t treat it properly, it ruins the whole thing.

I am not saying that in cases like this one party can turn around and claim they didn’t give consent. NO! I am simply saying that even after consenting to sex, if due to lack of aftercare, said person feels used, the whole thing just feels off. Sha care for people. Shalom
